Arm lift recovery while travelling alone, my slightly messy notes
solo traveller
I had an Arm Lift in Istanbul 7 weeks ago and wanted to write the practical side because before I went I kept searching for normal travel details, not only before/after photos. I travelled alone from Dublin. I arrived on a Sunday evening, clinic driver met me after a long wait at passport control, and the hotel was about 12 minutes from the clinic. I was very glad it was close. The first appointment on Monday was mostly forms, photos, meeting staff, and asking my last questions. I had written them in my phone because my brain went blank when I got nervous. The procedure day itself is a blur for me, so I will not pretend to explain medical things. What I can say is that communication mattered a lot after. I had swelling and general discomfort, and I sent probably too many WhatsApp messages. The coordinator answered most within an hour during the day, slower at night, which was explained before. That helped my anxiety. The hardest bit was practical: opening heavy doors, lifting my suitcase, washing hair, and feeling awkward in the airport. I paid for extra baggage help on the way back and I do not regret it. I also stayed one extra night compared to the clinic’s minimum package. If doing it again, I would budget for that from the beginning instead of trying to be brave and cheap. Not saying everyone needs the same plan, but if you are solo, ask about hotel distance, help with luggage, follow-up contact hours, and whether the quote includes extra garment or check visits. Those small things were the difference between manageable and panic.
